The Drift Bar in Southsea is the venue for Bailando every Thursday run by DALE Afro Latin Entertainment from 10pm to 3am. When I arrive around 10:30pm for the salsa dancing upstairs there are usually plenty of people who attended the earlier bachata lessons from 8:30 to 10pm staying on for an hour or so to practice to bachata music. Around 11pm the salsa music begins and people start arriving from downstairs particularly when it get crowded. Members of The Portsmouth University Salsa Club usually arrive around 11pm. Recently salsa tracks have started earlier than 11pm and played more often which is most welcome to those of us who prefer the real thing! 😉 Sometimes there are not so many staying on from the earlier bachata lesson. Sometimes many ladies come up later for a dance or two. Sometimes the room empties around 12:30 and sometime people stay until much later. This means the event is a bit of a mystery tour which makes it exciting whatever happens! ‘
