2019-03-01: Que Rico Salsa Party at White Eagle Club Balham!

Miguel Mayana resumed his monthly salsa event in Balham at the White Eagle Club (aka Hamilton House) in February. As it is scheduled for every first Friday this clashed with my regular date at The Venue in Brighton but this month I decided that I had to to revisit Que Rico to see if it had regained its former glory because it used to be my favourite venue second only to El Grande.

I’m very pleased I did because the new venue has a luxurious ballroom for salsa dancing – big enough for 500 dancers I’d say. The bachata area is quite small but adequate for those who prefer sidesways salsa! 😉 The ballroom has air conditioning which works, a professional sound system and a stage for the DJ which is always an advantage.

Que Rico means to a Spanish speaking salsa dancer something like: Isn’t it wonderful! It is indeed and as before the venue has a friendly atmosphere and attracts all the best dancers from miles around thus guaranteeing me my salsa fix many times over in one evening! Tonight I planned to arrive at 10pm for the club dancing with my dancing companion Vendy.

Parking: Plenty of free parking in Balham High Road and side streets after 7pm.

Tube & Rail: Balham Station is only 6 minutes walk away

Philip Wake That was the Que Rico I remember from the early days at the Bedford in Balham but even better in a luxurious ballroom with air conditioning that works, an excellent sound system and a stage. So many lovely salseras, so many excellent dances and the best of the night with Karina Perez – what more could a man ask for! 🙂 💘
