2019-03-23: Salsa Fusion at 229 The Venue London!

For details about this 1st first Saturday of the month (and sometimes the 3rd) salsa event see the facebook page: Salsa – Fusion. There is rarely a shortage of good salseras to dance with and there’s always the Cuban room to cool down when you get overheated because it’s a smaller room with several enormous fans and Cubana can be less strenuous but it rarely happens that way for me! I always seem to attract ladies who like to go crazy on the dance floor . . . which I love of course . . . dancing without energy and passion is a poor thing indeed . . .

The entrance to 229 The Venue Great Portland Street is just past the barrier to the car park under the covered way! Philip Wake I had a dream! All my special salseras turned up so that I could dance with them all in one night. The dream began to unfold when I met and danced with in turn: MargaritaKarina & Rasa . Perhaps one night the other three will turn up too but that wouldn’t be a dream, that would be a fantasy! 💘💘💘

Philip Wake Also, I had so many excellent dances in a row tonight starting from the first one I began to think I really was dreaming and then I danced with a girl called Fatima who was very hesitant about dancing with me because she had only had one lesson and thought she was rubbish. “Just relax and I’ll lead you,” I said and she reluctantly agreed. Her basic was very strong as I lead her to do just the basic at first until she settled down. She was lifting the pause foot up which was quite unusual for a beginner. I then added a cross body which I repeated until she learned to step back at the end with a gentle push at the right moment. Then I added a clockwise turn on 567 which I repeated until she learned from my lead to prepare on 5 turn on 6 and then step back on 7 but this happened after only a couple of repetitions. I lead those three moves one after the other (basic, cross body, turn) until she smiled that smile which says: “Look at me I’m dancing,” so I added a step behind with my left foot throwing her right hand down so that she would step behind too with her right foot. A gentle push on right side of her back then encouraged her to turn back and step behind with the other foot on 567. I added throw out styling with the same arm as the step behind foot and she followed suit – now with a big smile on her face. After that she started feeling music with me and styling it to make it even more fun. “Do you still think you’re rubbish?” I asked and she replied: “No, that was wonderful!”
