Salsateca London and Ola Latina run a regular event called El Bembe every 4th Saturday of the month at Editor’s Tap. The atmosphere is very friendly as it was at The Bottlescrue for 6 years but the dance floor is better with air conditioning that actually works well! I always have a good time dancing to the motivational music of DJ Johnny Gee!
Format: The venue offers plenty of space for dancing mainly salsa and bachata in a long room parallel to the extensive bar.
Timetable:
- 7:15 Bachata lessons
- 8:15: Salsa lessons
- 9:15: Social dancing
- 2am: Close
Venue: Editor’s Tap at 5-11 Fetter Lane, London EC4A 1BR
Nearest Tube: Chancery Lane, Temple or Black Friars Station all are around a 5 minute walk.
Parking: There is parking in the streets nearby from 7pm onwards but as this venue is inside ULEZ and I have an old diesel car I park near Scala and use my free bus pass to travel the last 1.3 miles.
Entrance: £12 including a voucher for a free drink

Philip Wake Fabulous party atmosphere tonight – had so many dances to Johnny Gee‘s motivation mix of music that I wobbled all the way to the bus stop afterwards getting back to my car parked near Scala to avoid the ULEZ £25 charge for my old diesel car. Thank you Laura, Kally, Shey, Mary-Louise and all the other lovely ladies for my dances. I salsa danced with quite a few beginners tonight who put a lot of energy into following me so well it was a pleasure to dance with them – particularly Shey who was dancing like an experienced salsera after we had four or five dances together! My last energetic dance with a Jamaican lady finished me off nicely as she whipped me with her pigtails as we danced and laughed so much when I said I was enjoying it she nearly missed a few beats! ❤️
