SUMMER TIME IN WINTER!

I turned the storage heater on full for my studio flat a couple of days ago and I woke up this morning to 25°C in the shade. I'm now working out how much extra it will cost me but even if it uses the maximum storage capacity of 17KW a night that's only 6KW more than I estimated. So if I keep it on full for December & January that will only cost me an extra 40p a day. That comes to £12 a month which will add only £24 for the year. TUMBLE DRYER STUFFED!

I recently noticed that my tumble dryer is taking more than an hour to dry clothes it used to dry in 40 minutes so I decided to check for fluff in the condenser as I haven't done it for a year. It's a messy job so I was putting it off. It was stuffed with fluff AND with a label from one of my pillow slips! Just taken the car in for an MOT. If it gets through and it lasts for another year the yearly cost will be:
£333 for purchase (£999 divided by 3 years)
£600 for insurance (3rd party fire & theft plus recovery)
£300 for MOT, service & tyres
£140 for tax

£1373 total yearly cost
£115 per month or £27 a week or 6p a mile (at 400 miles per week)

When I was 12 my brother was always being asked to play the piano when friends and relatives came round. He was very shy however and never obliged them even though is was really talented. I remember thinking: "I wish I was good at something - I'd do it for them!"

It starts earlier but hardly anybody gets there until 10:30pm and at 11pm they start charging £2 to go it. It has been good for the last few weeks because it was so crowded downstairs that people who wanted to dance salsa, bachata, meringue, kizomba etc have to go upstairs!

It's the Irish Club as usual tonight to break my salsa-fast of three nights rest after Wednesday at Irish in Portsmouth, Friday at Putney in London and Saturday at La Tasca in Bournemouth. Every week more and more talented salseras turn up at the Irish Club and sometimes it's almost as good as a London venue in terms of the number of quality of dances I have - as it was tonight! FLAT TYRE – FLAT NIGHT!

The right front tyre of my car was totally flat when I got back home last night (Wednesday) - a pin prick puncture it turns out today (Thursday). I need two new front tyres & tracking because the other one is nearly on the limit and unevenly worn too. Picked up Katie at Uxbridge and drove to East Barnet using the direct route which wasn't a good idea as there was a lot of traffic on the way but we still arrived in good time for the switch dance at the end of the lessons. Afterwards I drove Katie back to Uni.

GIVING UP SMOKING IS AS EASY AS PRETENDING YOU NEVER DID!

I gave up smoking cold turkey in November 2012 after I realised that 99% of the time when that feeling comes into your mouth that you want a cigarette you are really thirsty.  Exactly the same feeling happens to a non-smoker every day of their lives but as they don't smoke they don't even think of having a cigarette. Latino Interactive run a salsa event at Medbar in Southampton every Sunday from 5pm to 10:30. I've been 11 Sundays in a row now and it's definitely on my permanent list for salsa on Sunday and it's getting better and better - particularly when my favourite two salseras from the Irish Club turn up and I'm wearing my new Ghanaian Kente shirt!

The day went well getting Katie's stuff over to her new flat at the University of Hertfordshire with the able assistance of her mum & partner. Incognito's Putney Salsa Club at  Dance Lab Ballroom Hall, 63 Upper Richmond Rd, London SW15 2RD - run by Jeff Tarpinian.

Superb professional dance floor for 200 dancers with an amazing sound system and air conditioning that works - normally used by Dance Lab for professional ballroom events.

Every Friday from 7pm to 11:45pm.

Tracie's Latin Club (TLC) run a salsa night every Thursday at St Barnabas Church Hall, Lodge Road, Southampton SO14 6QS from 8pm to 11pm. Sometimes there is some extra at 7pm: either a bachata lesson for experienced dancers featuring Naomi Holloway or Joanna Wosk with partner Alex Magnusson or a Ladies Styling session featuring the amazing Joanna Wosk or the legendary Colleen Daniels. Wed13 9:30-1am: Salsa at Irish Club then Drift Bar
Thu14 9:30-11pm: Salsa at TLC in Southampton
Fri15 9:30-2am: Salsa at El Grande at Scala
Sat16 10pm-2am: Salsa Fusion at The Venue, Great Portland Street
Sun17 8pm-10:30 Salsa at Medbar in Southampton
but after two nights rest I'm ready to go again!

I always look forward to being part of the biggest and best monthly salsa dancing venue in the UK which is El Grande at Scala from 21:30 to 05:00 - 4 rooms for  salsa, cuban, bachata & kizomba - often attended by more than 1200 dancers! Event 2017-09-13: Salsa at Irish Club then Drift Bar on Wednesdays!

It's that Irish day again - every week more and more talented salseras turn up and it has becoming almost as good as a London venue in terms of the number of quality of dances I have!
