Tracie’s Latin Club run a excellent freestyle night of salsa at St Barnabas Church Hall, Lodge Road, Southampton SO14 6QS every other Friday from 8:30pm to 1am. The event has been called Caliente for a good reason for many years in different locations. I always go if I can because there are usually plenty of dancers there from far and wide to give me the kind of dances I enjoy so much as well as some fun dances! There are free lessons from 8:30pm to 9:30pm for various levels and then the resident DJ Marcus Groves, sometimes with a guest DJ, will keep you dancing with all styles of salsa and a taste of Bachata & Cha-cha-cha throughout the night. There is a dedicated room for Kizomba lovers behind the stage.
The proprietor, Tracie, has made arrangements with nearby places of business for parking to be allowed as the spaces in the grounds of the hall itself are quite limited and restricted to use by the ladies! You can park at Kwik Fit, Simply Bathrooms & Indigo Press.
St Barnabas Hall has good quality wooden dance floor, an excellent sound system, air conditioning that works and room for 150 salsa dancers. Thoroughly recommended! 🙂
