Philip
Hi Miguel – great evening but I thought I’d better let you know what I discovered about the air conditioning. I mentioned to one of the security men that the only air conditioner working was in the bar area of the kizomba room and that it was getting very hot in the main salsa room. He reported back later that management refused to turn on the air conditioners in the main room because they wanted dancers to get thirsty and buy more drinks! I guessed that a lot of public bars did this but it’s the first time I’ve had it confirmed. Looks like the organiser need to demand they are turned on. Last night there were so many people getting so hot that they had to keep having breaks to cool down. I went into the bar area of the kizomba room every other dance!

Hi Phil this won’t happen anymore. I will make an official complaint to the main manager. Thanks for letting me know , the Que Rico night was a success considering how many other events were in town. Thanks Miguel .
Philip:
Excellent and it was good to see how many people came on a Sexy & Sensual weekend! These bar managers need to understand that it doesn’t work – people who don’t drink alcoholic beverages don’t drink them just because they’re hot and those who do don’t drink more – it just puts them off going again!

ABOUT THE EVENT

Philip Frost and Miguel Mayana run a monthly salsa event at The Bedford in Balham which is one of my favourite venues. The main room for salsa is ideal: wooden dance floor, capacity for 250 dancers, excellent sound system, air conditioning that works and  free parking nearby for 250 cars! There is one other room devoted to kizomba and the event is called Que Rico which means to a Spanish speaking salsa dancer something like: Isn’t it wonderful!

Above all the venue has a friendly atmosphere and attracts all the best dancers from miles around thus guaranteeing me my salsa fix many times over in one evening!  I usually aim to arrive around 10pm for the club dancing 🙂

Admission is £10
