On Sunday 27th March 2016 I discovered how dangerous going salsa dancing can be at: SALSA AT THE VIEW EASTER SALSA & BACHATA ALL DAYER . I’ve copied my comments on the facebook post about this event below as it would have taken a lot of embeds! Click on any “2y” to see the original comment.
Philip Wake Fantastic night of salsa despite falling over on the wet gravel road leading down to The View and scraping a lot of skin of my right forearm and bruising my right leg from top to bottom. After driving 50 miles to Brighton I wasn’t going to go back home without dancing. Managed 2 hours before I started hurting so much all over I just had to give in!
I have to say the lady behind the bar upstairs was very good tending my wounds. When I said we needed alcohol to cauterise the scrapped off skin on my forearm she soaked a paper towel with vodka and used that to clean the wound before wrapping blue gauze round my forearm over a dressing big enough to cover the entire wound.
I popped into the Gents to drop my trousers to check that there were no wounds on my leg and it was just covered in bruises no problem there!
Got a feeling that in the morning I won’t be jogging down the stairs! Lol · 2y
Philip Wake Oh dear – just discovered that there’s a one inch split in my skin at the elbow which really needs stitches but I cleaned it up and used a band aid to hold the skin together as a really can’t be bothered to go to hospital now (1:22am) – I need my bed. Lol · 2y
Philip Wake 09:11 Made it downstairs – very slowly – having breakfast and then putting feet up to watch TV films! Lol · 2y
Philip Wake Unbelievable – left the electric blanket on so had to go upstairs again to turn if off! Lol · 2y
Philip Wake One thing’s for sure – the advice they give about motor cyclists wearing leather gear to save their knees and elbows is right. I was wearing a leather jacket and it was not damaged in any way by the incident! 🙂 · 2y
Philip Wake Tuesday Noon – I can nearly bend my knees without pain and my right elbow – the body part which took the full force of the forward fall on the steep sloped potholed gravelled road – is not so swollen now and the the 1 inch deep cut in the skin has healed. · 2y
Philip Wake Don’t worry Katrinah – I’ll be fit for TOP MODEL UK on Friday! 🙂 xxx 🙂 1 · 2y
Philip Wake Tuesday midnight – I can almost walk normally now as I go to bed! The elbow isn’t at all swollen and it hardly hurts when I accidentally lean on it! · 2y
Philip Wake Going upstairs was hard work though – had to use my right foot to lift myself at each step! · 2y
Philip Wake Wednesday 08:30 Walking downstairs not easy – left foot first worked best. Could bend legs enough to change socks. Could walk upstairs alsmost normally. Elbow pain gone. Scrapped skin healing nicely. Left hand wound totally healed. Waking pulse was 48. · 2y
Philip Wake Wednesday 13:30 Just back from Fareham. I wasn’t fit enough to go to Fareham for my Whistler’s Fine Fish & Chips on Monday so as I was actually able to get dressed today that’s what I went for as well as to see whether I was fit for salsa tonight or not. I had also run out of surgical spirit and dressing strip so needed to go shopping any way.
I just about made it without too much pain walking along West Street to the further end of Fareham Shopping Centre and back so it would thereforenot be sensible to go salsa dancing at The Irish Club tonight. Mores the pity but I need to be fit for TOP MODEL UK on Friday where my amazing daughter Katrinah is set to win! 🙂 X 🙂 · 2y
Philip Wake Wednesday 19:30 Walking downstairs a not too bad! 🙂 · 2y
Philip Wake Thursday 07:30 Had a good sleep as usual in my warm and cuddly electric blanket and after reading another chapter my of my ex wife’s novel Malicious Rules (by Helen L Lowe) I gingerly walked down the stairs left foot first. I’m already on page 182 of Helen’s 476 page novel which is good for me as I haven’t read for ages and I only started yesterday. It’s riveting to read so I recommend you click on the page link above and get yourself a copy! 🙂 · 2y
Philip Wake Apart from being careful walking downstairs everything else seems to be fine – no pain anywhere – so I will definitely be fit for TOP MODEL UK on Friday where I’m hoping to celebrate a win by my daughter Katrinah at the VIP party afterwards. See my profile picture for more information including how to get your ticket. · 2y
Philip Wake Friday 07:45 Still painful bending left knee with my weight on it so came down the stairs left foot first though managed a few full steps. Everything else fine – even scrapped off skin on forearm healing nicely after changing the dressing twice a day and treating with surgical spirit and Aloe Vera Gel. · 2y
Philip Wake Saturday Noon: Able to walk down the stairs normally at last! 🙂 2y
Philip Wake Saturday 22:00 Feeling a lot better now – going to the Sunday event at Scala is on the cards! 🙂
