MY LEFT ARM IS GETTING BIGGER!

Elbow (Olecranon) Bursitis
Elbow (Olecranon) Bursitis

On 20th July while salsa dancing at El Grande I needed to get on the stage to dance with a young lady. A fellow on the stage held out his hand and pulled me up energetically. I landed on my feet but the stage must have been slippery, probably with a spilled drink, and I fell very badly. I got up and had my dance and didn’t think anything of it. A week later I happened to feel under my left forearm with my right hand and felt several scabs and only then realised that I had fallen on my left elbow and badly scrazed my forearm.
For a week I had been using my laptop as usual with both forearms on the desk opening the wounds and making them dirty thus increasing the chance of infection.
Last time something like this happened to my right forearm my whole forearm became swollen and when I went to the doctor he spotted me as I stood at reception and took me straight into his surgery to examine me further. He said I was close to getting Septicemia and had come to see him just in time. He put me on a strong antibiotic for 2 weeks and luckily the infection disappeared and my forearm went back to normal.
A few days later my elbow got swollen and I thought: “Oh no, not again!” It was Friday night and It didn’t seem urgent yet so I carried on salsa dancing for the whole weekend and went to see the doctor yesterday (Monday).
“Just a low level infection,” he said as he prescribed me an antibiotic, an NSAID (Non Steroidal Anti-inflamatory Drug) and a proton pump drug to reduce the effect of the NSAID on my stomach lining.
“If that doesn’t work come in again and I’ll aspirate the fluid from the bursa sac,” he said.
“If that doesn’t work it’ll be the surgeons knife for you!” he added reassuringly.
I REALLY MUST REMEMBER TO EXAMINE MYSELF AFTER AN ACCIDENT LIKE THIS TO SEE WHAT I’VE DONE TO MYSELF! LOL
