I did a small shop at Asda Gosport just after it opened at 10am for a few items which had sold out when I went later in the day yesterday to Asda Fareham – namely the cheap Ibuprofen (40p for 16x200mg – was 35p), Dates (£2 for a 500mg packet) and Sweetcorn (45p for 198g can – was 35p). I had to make do with the 65p packet of Ibuprofen which is better than Nurofen at least which is £2 for the identical product made in the same factory! I found the Dates I wanted though and bought all 3 packets to cover me for the next couple of weeks. However, there seems to be a shortage of sweetcorn altogether never mind the cheapest can! As for corn on the cob – what a joke – there are nearly 2 large cobs worth of sweetcorn in a can and a single cob cost 50p!
When I got home and opened the boot there was nothing there. I thought back to what had happened and it was this: when I arrived at the car I left the trolley at the back while I opened the driver’s side door. I noticed a bulge in the front right tyre so I examined it closely and realised that a blowout could be imminent. I remember thinking that I’d better take the car back to where I bought the tyre (opposite Asda) on Monday. I got in the car, backed out and drove home.
When I arrived back at Asda the trolley was now near the cars parked opposite where I had parked so I must have backed into it as I drove off! I checked the shopping and everything was there so nothing had been lost except a few miles worth of diesel wasted and a slight reddening of the cheeks as I realised how absent minded I had become! Lol!
