On This Day 14 Years Ago – Hormone Replacement Therapy took a dive!
On 15th July 2002 research by the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) suggested that women who take Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for menopausal symptoms are 26% more likely to develop breast cancer and may be at increased risk of heart disease and stroke. Following the report the use of HRT decreased by 50% but many women still believed the benefits outweigh the risks.
